Curious as to how a blog benefits businesses?
Of course you are and if you’re not, why on Earth not? You should be desperate to know how a blog benefits your business, how it can improve sales, increase efficiency, drive traffic and create conversions.
A blog is a simple article style method for creating content on your website. Whether you’re running a personal website or a professional website, you most likely have found that you have the ability to create a blog either alongside or embedded within your site.
You’ve probably asked yourself, ‘What are the benefits of using a blog?’ And you wouldn’t be alone. It’s unclear to a lot of people the effect a well structured and properly designed blog can have on their website.
In this easy and short article, I’ll explain the benefits to having a blog and point you in the right places to ensure you’re creating an effective blog.
A properly designed and well structured blog can have numerous benefits but some of the main and, of course, most important are as follows:
- Increase the amount of traffic flowing to your website
- Increase your website’s authority on a specific subject
- Drive sales
- Improve conversion rates of people who search for your product versus how many people purchase the product
- Inform and educate potential customers, employees, investors or partners
I’m going to focus on the three main blog benefits which are an increase of traffic, increase of authority and to increase sales.
Blog Benefits #1 – Increase Traffic
By creating a blog and updating it regularly, you will increase the amount of traffic flowing to your website.
To understand how this works, first, you need to understand how Google and other Search Engines rank your website/company/page/blog etc.
First of all, nobody knows. It’s a secret. Google and other Search Engines will never give away their secret of how they rank websites because people would just game the system in order to receive better rankings.
So, since we can’t actually understand how we get ranked, we have to look at what websites are being ranked and how they’re getting there. We have to look at what works and who is currently winning in the ranking race.
At the moment, the major driving force of ranking is blogging and backlinks. You should spend some time researching backlinks but for now that’s out of the scope of this article.
By writing a proper and effective blog you will increase your Google page rank and by doing so, you’re more likely to end up on the first page of Google’s results. By being on the first page you’re more likely to be clicked on and, thus, you will receive higher traffic.
Blog Benefits #2 – Increase Authority
By providing a blog which gives insights into your industry, sector, hobby, profession or whatever else you’d like to focus on, you’re becoming an authoritative entity on the subject.

By increasing your authority and providing helpful, useful, informational and educational blogs you’ll also increase your Google and other Search Engine rankings.
Blog Benefits #3 – Drive sales
Finally, what most people focus on, sales. Sales are important. They’re one of the most vital parts of a business, if not the most vital part of a business.
Sales are the blood of any business and to increase your sales you need to reach as many people as possible.
By creating a high traffic and high authoritative blog, you’re expanding your audience and creating a wider pool of potential customers.
These customers, if they like what you’re selling or providing, are more likely to trust an informed and authoritative company or person and purchase from them than another who seems to be less informed and have less authority on the subject.
